Yoga develops body awareness by taking you through a series of mobility, strengthening and stretching movements that are key to the demands of elite athletes, no matter what sport you are involved in.
Mobility training involves exercising at a low intensity to improve the range of motion of a joint. Static, active and dynamic stretching are all forms of mobility training. By engaging in mobility exercises you can improve posture, prevent muscular imbalances leading to injuries and reduce soreness after a workout.
Stretching major muscle groups is paramount to stay balanced. Overactive muscles can change your mechanics when performing certain movements and can create bigger problems. When stretching, try to hold the static stretch for no less than 20 seconds or longer if possible. Stretching is best done when the muscles are warm and it can be done every day as long as you don't overstretch the ligaments. Stretching can be used as a relaxing tool before going to sleep as a daily routine for a few minutes. It can help you relax and help you sleep better.
Cold Water Immersion
