Recovery is a key component to Elite Performance Training System and is the third and final pillar. Post-exercise recovery is a vital component of the overall exercise training paradigm, and essential for elite performance and continued improvement. If the rate of recovery is appropriate, higher training volumes and intensities are possible without the detrimental effects of overtraining. Recovery and rest are an essential part of any workout routine and critical for achieving top sports performance.
What are the best recovery methods for elite performance?
We believe restorative fitness, which includes yoga, mobility, and stretching techniques designed to restore muscles and increase recovery time. We also use the most advanced recovery tools in the industry like the Theragun Percussive Therapy and Normatec Recovery (compression therapy).
Athletes reach the ELITE status by performing at peak levels as frequently as possible. Repairing their bodies after strenuous activity is a critical component of sustainable high level performance. Proper recovery restores the body to full strength and also provides the ideal environment for growth. Protein is synthesized, torn fibers are repaired to build new muscle, and the body reaps the full benefits of training, often becoming faster, stronger, and healthier after recovering from the stresses of frequent training.
Elite athletes understand that preparation, performance and recovery have a direct correlation, and they take them all very seriously. If you’re looking to maximize your performance and compete at the highest level, you need to recover at the highest level. Elite Training also believes that some of the best muscle recovery tips and techniques are restorative fitness, cold water immersion, compression therapy, physical therapy & chiropractic care, massage therapy and proper nutrition & supplementation.

Yoga develops body awareness by taking you through a series of mobility, strengthening and stretching movements that are key to the demands of elite athletes, no matter what sport you are involved in.
Mobility training involves exercising at a low intensity to improve the range of motion of a joint. Static, active and dynamic stretching are all forms of mobility training. By engaging in mobility exercises you can improve posture, prevent muscular imbalances leading to injuries and reduce soreness after a workout.
Stretching major muscle groups is paramount to stay balanced. Overactive muscles can change your mechanics when performing certain movements and can create bigger problems. When stretching, try to hold the static stretch for no less than 20 seconds or longer if possible. Stretching is best done when the muscles are warm and it can be done every day as long as you don't overstretch the ligaments. Stretching can be used as a relaxing tool before going to sleep as a daily routine for a few minutes. It can help you relax and help you sleep better.
Cold Water Immersion
Cold water therapy is great for muscle healing and pain relief. Cold water immersion is also beneficial for reducing inflammation. Dysfunctional muscle tissue creates weakness in the muscles. Therefore, a massage can promote faster healing and recovery, reduces muscle tension and soreness. By promoting relaxation, increasing circulation, and removing trigger points, massage therapy can make a person stronger. Elite utilizes one of the most advanced tools from Theragun Percussive Therapy. "A deep muscle treatment unlike anything you’ve ever felt. Feel better, move better, and recover faster with the quietest, most effective percussive therapy device in the world." – Theragun Website.
The appropriate post-workout / competition meal assists in replenishing the athlete's muscles for the next workout or competition. Blood flow to muscles increases immediately after exercise, which allows the muscle cells to absorb more glucose which ultimately maximizes glycogen synthesis within the muscle
